bobbleheads on the side please

I am in the process of purchasing a new flatware set. I got to thinking that I wanted to find one made outside of China since recent findings have come out showing that a large majority of their products have unsafe levels of lead in them...Remember the Bobblehead scare? All of a sudden, after these things were in circulation in the US, the news comes out that we're not supposed to put the Bobbleheads in our mouth because of the unsafe levels of lead. Phew---I am glad that isn't a problem for me. BUT WAIT...what about the utensils we eat with? I think that they are actually designed to be put into your mouth!

I have spent the majority of my lunch hour on the phone and the internet searching for relatively affordable flatware that has a lesser lead content that Bobbleheads and have found literally one option---but the problem is that its funny looking.

Its as though you have to either spend a truck load of money for non-China made flatware OR you can ingest unsafe levels of lead. I might as well eat with a Bobblehead.

  1. Update: I found a set of flatware made in the US. It wasn't easy, but it can be done. It was actually made by a New York steel company purchased by Oneida and closed down in early 2010. One win for USA!
